Fun Fact: So you may have seen me complain about how there are so many 3/4 time songs in the Undertale OST. So how do we make it work? Either we find a 3/4 song (which isn’t easy), we say screw it and just plaster the 4/4 song on there, which sounds bad most of the time, or we do this fun technique where we just cut out one of the four counts in every measure, which is time consuming, but it can work if you play your cards right. And fortunately, Tubthumping has a lot of pauses in it, so it’s easy to just remove that beat.

Another strategy used by Galactic Hole in “Mashuptale” (which is the same idea as this and DEFINITELY worth checking out since he actually gets to all 101 songs!!! I may reference it a few more times in these notes) is to sample something and play it as an additional instrument to play the theme. His Ruins mashup is an amazing example of this.
